PLUMAS LAKE, Yuba County — November 6, 2026. Voters in Plumas Lake Elementary School District are deciding whether to authorize $9 million in bonds to help build a new school gymnasium. The published November 2026 ballot measure results show 683 Yes votes (46.12%) and 798 No (53.88%), a 115-vote early No lead. That is below the 55% approval threshold for this school bond, but results are not certified and may change as valid ballots are added.
A gymnasium as the next stage of a new school
The Plumas Lake Elementary School District’s official construction page explains that its fourth campus is being built in phases. Phase One includes 22 classrooms, offices and a cafeteria, with a stated cost of approximately $59 million. Phase Two is a separate $18 million gymnasium project, and the school district says this stage depends on Measure H being approved.
How the $18 million gym could be financed
According to the district, $9 million would come from taxpayer-funded bonds and $9 million from a loan repaid using future developer fees. This funding description matters: Measure H is not a request to issue $18 million in voter-approved bonds. The ballot summary estimates an average annual property levy of $12 per $100,000 of assessed valuation for the $9 million bond. Property assessment is not necessarily the same as market sale price.
What a No lead would mean
If the measure ultimately fails to reach 55%, the currently described Phase Two financing condition would not be met. That does not by itself establish that Phase One construction would stop; the district describes Phase One and the gymnasium as separate stages with different financing. The district also outlines a third, later stage involving a library and more classrooms, without a finalized construction timetable.
Why countywide ballot numbers are not a substitute
Yuba County’s general-election results contain votes for many cities, school districts and offices. A countywide estimate of unprocessed ballots cannot tell us how many are eligible for Plumas Lake Measure H. Election officials must validate all eligible ballots before a final result can be reported. The Yuba County election office publishes official returns and canvass information.
